Audio Technica offered an replacement cable for the owners of the following headphones:

Apparently the issue is that the cables didn’t have an independent ground wire for the left and the right channels, instead the ground wire is combined for left and right channel. Does it matter? As Audio Technica said, there is no safety concern, and I wouldn’t think it would be too big of a deal since the ground channel is eventually combined at the TRS plug. But since they’re offering free replacement, then might as well do it if you feel like getting a new cable.

You can also check for a sticker on the left side of the headband arm, and the if yours come with the sticker, then your headphone has been wired the correct way and there is no need to send it in.
